WIND BUYS NEW ADAMIND LICENSE TO BROADEN MOBILE CONTENT
SERVICES FOR 13 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS
Adamind’s Spire™ media
adaptation software enables Italy’s third
largest operator to launch seamless rich content services covering
voice, internet, mobile and video
MILIPITAS, Calif. – January 30, 2006: Adamind (LSE: ADA), the world’s
leading provider of media adaptation software for mobile messaging, content
and convergence services, announces that Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA, Italy’s
third largest mobile phone company and its largest Internet service provider,
has bought a new licence from Adamind as part of a major expansion of rich
content services for its thirteen million mobile subscribers.
The agreement further extends Adamind license from a previous integration
with Wind's WAP download services offered via Wind's mobile portal to supporting
also Wind's MMS services.
Wind, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most innovative mobile operators,
has been an Adamind customer since July 2003, when it became the first European
operator to introduce a preview package enabling subscribers to preview
rich content before purchase for download to their handsets. Wind’s
mobile portal, providing rich media mobile service, recorded 1.4 million
unique visitors in 2005.
Shailendra Jain, Chief Executive of Adamind, said: “We are delighted
to be closely involved in the expansion of Wind’s rich media content
services. This agreement demonstrates the strength of our relationship with
Wind and the scalability of Adamind’s Spire media adaptation platform
to address rapidly rising growth in MMS traffic.”
Adamind's media adaptation software solution is integrated as a central
component within Wind’s Nokia multi-media messaging centres (MMSC).
Adamind's software is the world's first Open Mobile Alliance STI-compliant
product. The OMA's Standard Transcoding Interface (STI) is the
first specification that resolves the integration problem associated with
interfacing a Media Adapter platform with various messaging and content
delivery platforms.
